     Edward Slade was born in 1860 in Taunton, Somerset, England.2,3 He was the son of Edward Slade and Charlotte Stevens.2
     Edward married Johanna "Ann" Chalk on June 22, 1885 in Durrell Arm, Newfoundland,4,5, the daughter of Martha Ann Wellon & Abel Chalk.6 Edward was working as a fishermant with his brother James.7 Edward Slade died on June 25, 19065 and was buried in Durrell Cemetery, Twillingate, Notre Dame Bay, Newfoundland.8 His headstone reads:
"Beloved husband of Johannah Slade Asleep in Jesus blessed sleep from which none ever wake to weep, a calm and undisturbed repose unbroken by the last of foes."8
