This is a special study of Slade families of Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. The lack of early census data in Newfoundland makes the research and connections of families difficult and subject to error. Any assistance you can give will be greatly appreciated. Please contact us by email at slade@one-name.org As this study becomes more complete, it will be merged into our main world-wide Slade web site at: http://www.sladegenealogy.net/
Please search to see if you can find any of your Newfoundland or Nova Scotia ancestors here. It is easy to search by clicking the Search tab above, then fill in first, last name and name of a town or area where they might have been. Add year of birth if you get too many results.
Our research of the Slade surname began in early 1970s in the United States, however, ALL of the Slade families in the USA originated in other countries, primarily England. The information contained herein has been gleaned from census & public records, historical & biographical books, land and tax records, wills, family bibles, letters, documents, recollections of old timers and correspondence with other researchers.
The Slade surname was registered with the Guild of One Name Studies in London thereby extending the Slade surname study worldwide. We currently have more than 20,000 documented Slade individuals in our database from England, Canada, Australia, United States, New Zealand, Ireland and Scotland.
Please let us know if you find you ancestors here!, If we do not have them, we would love to add them, let us know. We welcome correspondence with anyone world wide who is interested in the Slade surname. Please contact us with any questions or inquiries.
The Slade Surname DNA Project was created in 2004 to provide an opportunity to verify which Slade branch you belong to and to confirm suppositions of conventional research methods. This study has been instrumental in proving several connections in this database. See DNA tab for more information.
