     Edyth Maude Slade was born on June 11, 1877 in Limerick, County Limerick, Ireland.1 She was the daughter of Marcus George Slade and Elizabeth Mellefont Warren.1 Edyth Maude Slade was Church of Ireland.1
     Edyth married Percival Crewe Townsend on July 9, 1902 in St. Mary (RC), Limerick, County Limerick, Ireland, Percival's father was Edward Richard Townsend, medical doctor.3 Able to read and write.1 Probate of her brother, Cecil Alfred Slade's estate was granted to Edyth. Her last name was Townsend at this time and she was a widow.4
