     Giles Slade was born on December 25, 1862 in Marshall's Folly, Conception Bay, Newfoundland.1 He was the son of William Slade and Elizabeth Parsons.1
     Giles married Laura Trickett on December 5, 1888 in Salmon Cove, Newfoundland,2, the daughter of Sarah & John Trickett.3 A fisherman in Salmon Cove.4 Giles Slade died on October 6, 1933 in Salmon Cove, Newfoundland, at age 705,6 and was buried in United Church Cemetery, Perry's Cove, Newfoundland.7 The inscription on his gravestone reads:
"Beloved husband of Laura Slade. Sleep on dear husband, they work is done, Thy mortal cares are past, Jesus has come and borne thee home, To heavenly rest at last."8
