     Charles Godfrey Mitford Slade was born in December, 1878 in King's Lynn, Norfolk, England.1 He was the son of William Bertram Mitford Slade and Louisa Constance [?].2 Charles Godfrey Mitford Slade was baptized on January 19, 1879 in St. Peter and St. Paul, Teddington, Richmond upon Thames, England.2
     Charles married Adalaide Ladavina Turner circa 1905.1 Charles Godfrey Mitford Slade was Military Captain West York Regt Reg Army Reserve and Independent Means.3 Charles attained the rank of Major with the Prince of Wale's Own (West Yorkshire) Regiment P072, serving in France, Belgium and Germany and in Gallipolli. He was awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal.4 He resided on November 8, 1914; A Major in the Prince of Wales's Own (West Yorkshire) Regiment, 4th Battalion was killed in action.5 He died in 1914.1,6
