     John Charles Slade was born on September 4, 1892 in Victoria, Newfoundland.3 He was the son of John Martin Slade and Susanna Somers. John Charles Slade was baptized on November 28, 1893; Methodist.4
     John married Leah Beatrice Mulley in Victoria, Newfoundland.1 John took his family to Nova Scotia so that he could find work as a miner. They were Canadian of English decent. They could all speak English but not French. John and Margaret could read and write English.5 John Charles Slade was a Methodist.6 He died in October, 1974 at age 827 and was buried in Bethel Old Pentacostal Cemetery, Victoria, Newfoundland.7
