Arthur Shenstone Slade1

     Arthur Shenstone Slade was born in February, 1899 in Victoria, Newfoundland.1 He was the son of John Martin Slade and Susanna Somers.
     Arthur married Annie Enion circa 1916 in Victoria, Newfoundland.1 Shen took his family to Nova Scotia so that he could find work as a miner. They arrived in Canada in 1920 and are listed as Canadian of English decent. They could all speak English but not French and Shen and Annie could read and write English.2 Arthur was a Methodist.2 Listed on a ships manifest sailing from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Chelsey, Mass., USA. The manifest indicates he was seeking work. He was 5'6", with a medium complexion, brown hair and brown eyes.3 Annie Enion died on March 25, 1943 at age 44; when giving birth.4
     Arthur married second Gertrude F. [?]5 Arthur Shenstone Slade died in 19765 and was buried in Victoria United Church Cemetery, Victoria, Conception Bay, Newfoundland.5
