     Major married second Joyce Collier.5 Major Erwin Slade His 2nd wife, Joyce's, obituary lists her step children: Blair Slade, Ontario; Wendy MacNeil, Sharon Slade both of Georges River & Kevin Slade of North Sydney.67
     Major married third Ruth [?].8 Major died on January 25, 2015 at age 82.3 His obituary read as follows:

      It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our awesome Husband, Father, and Grandfather, Major Slade on January 25, 2015. Born in Newfoundland on September 22, 1932, Major was the son of the late Margaret and Ernest Slade.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Ruth, his Sister Unetha, his children the Slades: Donna (Michael), Blair (Jennifer), Wendy (Garnet), Kevin (Donna), Sharon (Russell). Grandchildren: Leanne (Ronnie), Terri-Lynn, Holly, Stefani (Adam), Nicholas, Samantha as well as Great Grandchildren Ben and Belle.

Step Children (Ruth’s Children): Vernice (Kenny), Joey (Teresa), Melody (Lonnie), and their families (8 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren).

Step Children (The Browns): Ralph (Valerie), Linda (Mike), Diane (Carl), Clarence and their children (Corey, David, Marie). He will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his dearly loved dog Chippy.

Besides his parents, Major was predeceased by his siblings Angus (Nick), Don, Jack, Bob, Bill, Effie, Florence, Annie, and Ernestine as well as other loved ones: Florence Dove, Joyce Slade (Brown), and his Stepdaughter Ruby Brown Robinson.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28th 7 – 9 pm at Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Avenue, Sydney Mines. Funeral Service to be held at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, Campbell St. in North Sydney on Thursday, January 29th at 11am with Rev. Richie Robinson officiating.8
