     Philip Caleb Slade Jr. was born on February 28, 1836 in Hoosick Twp, Rensselaer County, New York.² He was the son of Philip Caleb Slade and Sarah Wood.
     Philip married Angeline Emeline Slade, daughter of Caleb S. Slade and Catherine Babcock. Philip died in 1920.

     Philetus Slade was born in November, 1860 in Rensselaer County, New York.¹ He was the son of Philip Caleb Slade Jr. and Angeline Emeline Slade.
     Philetus married Lena May Humiston, daughter of George Willis Humiston and Margaret Helen Hemingway.² Philetus died in 1945.³ He was buried in Hoosick Rural Cemetery, Rensselaer County, New York.³

     Lena May Humiston was born on March 30, 1868 in Rensselaer County, New York.¹ She was the daughter of George Willis Humiston and Margaret Helen Hemingway.¹
     Lena married Philetus Slade, son of Philip Caleb Slade Jr. and Angeline Emeline Slade.² Lena died on May 25, 1936 at age 68.¹ She was buried in Hoosick Rural Cemetery, Rensselaer County, New York.¹

     Jay Walter Slade was born in 1894 in Rensselaer County, New York.¹ He was the son of Philetus Slade and Lena May Humiston.
     Jay married Ruth Lee Sherwood. Jay died in 1953.

     Hazel Mae Slade was born on December 11, 1899 in Rensselaer County, New York.¹ She was the daughter of Philetus Slade and Lena May Humiston. Hazel died on April 9, 1989 in Fort Edward, Washington County, New York, at age 89.¹ She was buried in Hoosick Rural Cemetery, Rensselaer County, New York.¹

     Mildred Belle Slade was born in 1902 in Rensselaer County, New York.¹ She was the daughter of Philetus Slade and Lena May Humiston.²
     Mildred married Claude Charles Foster on August 1, 1927 in New York.³ Mildred died on February 26, 1995.²

     Jay O. Slade was born on July 7, 1932 in Troy, Rensselaer County, New York.¹ He was the son of Jay Walter Slade and Ruth Lee Sherwood.
     Jay married Sandra Sue Maynard, daughter of Robert W. Maynard and Jean Thompson, on September 12, 1959 in St. Francis de Sales Church, Bennington, Bennington County, Vermont.² Jay died on April 26, 2018 at age 85.¹ His obituary read as follows:

      Jay O. Slade, 85, of Bennington, Vermont died suddenly at his home on April 26, 2018.

Born July 7, 1932 in Troy, New York, to Jay Walter Slade and Ruth (Sherwood) Slade, Jay grew up in North Hoosick, New York. He received a Regents Diploma from Hoosick Falls High School followed by an apprenticeship at Watervliet Arsenal in Watervliet, New York, to train as a tool and die maker. A sergeant in the Army artillery, Jay was stationed for two years in Korea for the post-war phase. On September 12, 1959, Jay married

Sandra Sue Maynard of Bennington. Jay was employed continuously until his passing, spending many years at Bijur Lubricating Corporation, and Gurley Precision Instruments. Under the guidance of Douglas Trumbull, he was part of the creative team of VFX professionals in Lenox, Massachusetts who created special effects for the movie Judge Dredd, and for a trio of presentations for the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mr. Slade was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Sandra Sue. Jay is survived by his son
Jeffery Alan, and his wife Katherine Freeman Slade of North Bennington;
his daughter Kristen Marie Slade of Waterville, Vermont;

granddaughter Jennifer Leigh Slade of Annapolis, Maryland; and
grandson Andrew Parker Slade of North Bennington.

Throughout his life, Jay held active memberships in the Hale Mountain Rod and Gun Club, the Vermont Philatelic Society, and the Rutland Railroad Historical Society. In his youth, he was a member of the North Hoosick Fire Department. As a young man, Jay enjoyed enduro motorcycle racing. He was an accomplished downhill skier and was an alpine ski instructor at Prospect Mountain in Woodford, Vermont. His lifelong interests included 18th century Americana, military history, and model HO gauge railroading. Jay was a master craftsman whose skills embraced jewelry making, metal fabricating, and furniture making.

There will be calling hours at the E.P. Mahar & Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 2nd from 5:00-7:00 PM.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, May 3rd at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

     Sandra Sue Maynard was born on November 6, 1939 in Bennington, Bennington County, Vermont.¹ She was the daughter of Robert W. Maynard and Jean Thompson.¹
     Sandra married Jay O. Slade, son of Jay Walter Slade and Ruth Lee Sherwood, on September 12, 1959 in St. Francis de Sales Church, Bennington, Bennington County, Vermont.¹ Sandra died on December 16, 2010 at age 71.¹ She was buried in Park Lawn Cemetery, Bennington, Bennington County, Vermont.¹ Her obituary read as follows:

      BENNINGTON - Mrs. Sandra M. Slade, 71, wife of Jay O. Slade, a resident of Orchard Road, Bennington died Thursday, December 16, 2010 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation following an extended illness. Born in Bennington November 6, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Robert W. and Jean (Thompson) Maynard. Sandra received her education in the Bennington schools and was a 1957 graduate of Bennington High School.

Sandra and Jay were married September 12, 1959 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. Sandra was employed at Gould Jewelers, and later at Tofel Jewelers where she worked as a certified gemologist until the time of her retirement.

Sandra had a keen interest in the history of Colonial America. She volunteered at the Peter Matteson Tavern museum on East Road. Dressed in period costume, she demonstrated fireplace cookery to visitors of the museum.

Sandra enjoyed attending auctions, collecting antiques, dolls, and Bennington pottery. An avid reader, she enjoyed good books accompanied by her adored cats.

Sandra was an accomplished knitter, and took pleasure in sharing that skill with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Jay O. Slade of Bennington; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Katherine Slade of North Bennington; a daughter, Kristen Slade of Waterville, VT; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Andrew Slade; a sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Gregory Jacobs of Bennington, two aunts, an uncle, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 10 a.m.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.

     Claude Charles Foster was born on July 18, 1899 in Pawlet, Rutland County, Vermont.^1,2
     Claude married Mildred Belle Slade, daughter of Philetus Slade and Lena May Humiston, on August 1, 1927 in Rensselaer County, New York.³ Claude died on July 10, 1960 in Cohoes, Albany County, New York, at age 60.⁴

     Cora Slade was born in 1862 in Rensselaer County, New York.² She was the daughter of Philip Caleb Slade Jr. and Angeline Emeline Slade.
     Cora married Isaac Warren Bovie.¹ Cora died in 1922³ and was buried in Hoosick Rural Cemetery, Rensselaer County, New York.³

     Wiley Slade was born in 1865 in Rensselaer County, New York.¹ He was the son of Philip Caleb Slade Jr. and Angeline Emeline Slade. Wiley died in 1867 in New York.¹

     Sarah Slade was born in 1869 in Rensselaer County, New York.¹ She was the daughter of Philip Caleb Slade Jr. and Angeline Emeline Slade.
     Sarah married Martin Lloyd. Sarah died in 1926.

     Emma Slade was born in 1871 in Rensselaer County, New York.¹ She was the daughter of Philip Caleb Slade Jr. and Angeline Emeline Slade. Emma died in 1902.

     Catherine "Katie" R. Slade was born in December, 1874 in Rensselaer County, New York.^1,2 She was the daughter of Philip Caleb Slade Jr. and Angeline Emeline Slade. [The 1900 census shows her birth Dec 1876, however, Catherine, age 1 in the June 1875 New York census].² Catherine died in 1906.

     John Babcock Slade was born on March 15, 1876 in Rensselaer County, New York.² He was the son of Philip Caleb Slade Jr. and Angeline Emeline Slade.
     John married Jessie B. Hoyt, daughter of Warner T. Hoyt and Cornelia Arnold, on June 20, 1900 in Lansingburg, Rensselaer County, New York.¹ John Babcock Slade was registered for the military draft in World War I on September 12, 1918 in Troy, Rensselaer County, New York.² John died on January 28, 1955 at age 78¹ and was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, Rensselaer County, New York.³

     Julia B. Slade was born in 1878 in Rensselaer County, New York.¹ She was the daughter of Philip Caleb Slade Jr. and Angeline Emeline Slade. Julia died in 1933.

     Mary Agnes Slade was born in February, 1880 in Rensselaer County, New York.^1,2 She was the daughter of Philip Caleb Slade Jr. and Angeline Emeline Slade. Mary died on March 10, 1906 at age 26.

     Isaac Warren Bovie was born in June, 1856 in Hoosick, Rensselaer County, New York.¹
     Isaac married Cora Slade, daughter of Philip Caleb Slade Jr. and Angeline Emeline Slade.² Isaac died in 1942³ and was buried in Hoosick Rural Cemetery, Rensselaer County, New York.³

     Philip C. Slade was born circa 1902 in Saratoga Springs, Saratoga County, New York.¹ He was the son of Frank W. Slade and Mary Ida Cromwell.¹ Philip died in 1986² and was buried in Ballston Spa Village Cemetery, Ballston Spa, Saratoga County, New York.²

     Oscar Henry Slade was born in April, 1894 in New York.¹ He was the son of Samuel G. Slade and Ida J. Coons.¹
     Oscar married Mary Louise Spencer.³ Oscar Henry Slade registered for WWI draft on June 5, 1917 at Saratoga County, New York.² Oscar died in 1971³ and was buried in Ballston Spa Village Cemetery, Ballston Spa, Saratoga County, New York.³

     Jane S. Slade was born circa 1923 in Ballston Spa, Saratoga County, New York.¹ She was the daughter of Oscar Henry Slade and Mary Louise Spencer.¹ Jane married Robert L Duquette.² Jane died on November 14, 2018.² She was buried in Sherburne West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne, Chenango County, New York.²
