     Emma Jean Slade known as Emmie.2 She was born in December, 1871 in Spalding County, Georgia.3 She was the daughter of William Harrison Slade and Prudence Emily Brooks.
     Emma married John Dennis Gardner, son of William Zedrick Gardner and Caroline Myrtice Cauthen, in Georgia.4 The 1900 census indicates that Emma was mother of 7 children and 6 are living.3 She died on December 9, 1930 at her home.5 She was buried in Oakview Cemetery, Albany, Dougherty County, GeorgiaG.5
