24355, 25580, 25822, 27000 and 67527 all descend from Samuel Slade of Southampton, VA.  Their DNA tests are almost identical, thereby confirming relationships previously derived from conventional paper research. We have extensive documented information about these lines.

37848 descends from Samuel of Cheraw Dist, SC > Hezekiah b 1804 SC > Calvin Griffin > Ceamon Calvin b 1880 MS > J. P. b 1911 Lamar MS. His DNA12 exactly matches both 29712 and 30350. His DNA-25 is one different than 29712 [MS] and two different than 30350 [NC]. This shows a definite relationship between MS, SC & NC Slades.
38650 descends from Samuel Slade b 1810 Hyde NC, > Franklin O.  > Charles Alexander b 1890 Beaufort NC. The participant was born Beaufort, NC, so it is strange indeed that his DNA does not match any of the other NC Slades.

This verifies conventional research which indicates they are 6th cousins, twice removed, their common ancestor is William Slade b 1681 England.

Haplogroups.
Each person's collection of DNA values is referred to as their haplotype. Scientist have sorted and classified haplotypes into haplogroups, which provides a clue as to the ancient background of the population.

Most of the participants in the SLADE project belong to the R1b (formerly called HG1) haplogroup, the most common of the European haplogroups. The haplogroup is widely dispersed across Europe and is believed to be descended from hunter-gathers who arrived in Europe before the last Ice Age 40,000 years ago. Two participants, 29491 and 55474 are haplogroup I, sometimes referred to as the "Viking" haplotype, found in Scandanavia and parts of Ireland, Scotland, and England, where it's thought to denote descent from the Viking invaders.
