Inscription on the leather cover of this bible reads "Simon & M.A. Slade".  Simon D. Slade is son of William Slade, a grandson of Samuel Slade of Southampton, Virginia.  M. A. is his first wife, Mary Ann Adams Slade.

The bible is approximately 4" thick and was published in 1873 by National Publishing Company. Wallace and Carol Ann Slade Upson of Griffin, Georgia are current caretakers of the bible and provided images of the pages, A transcription of the pages follows the pictures.
