William Jethro Slade is the son of Harris Slade and great grandson of Samuel Slade of Southampton, Virginia.  This bible is referenced as that of William Jethro Slade and his wife Martha Ann Franklin Mitchell., however after viewing the names, dates, and places recorded therein, it appears that it was more likely kept by his son John Henry Slade and his wife Markie Lafayette Hall of Randolph County, Georgia.  Current location of the actual bible is unknown, however, photocopies of the bible were recorded at the Georgia State Archives in Atlanta, where it is listed as the William Jethro Slade bible.
